4th Grade Students Turn Challenges Into Opportunities
ICS 4th graders are not afraid of getting their hands dirty to help make their school a better place. Earlier this year, when the city of New York looked into charging private schools for garbage removal, the Archdiocese’s superintendent asked Catholic schools to measure the amount of trash generated over the course of two weeks.
8th Grade Students Blast Off at Bronx Science Fair
A group of ICS 8th grade students earned tenth place overall in the Bronx Science Fair this spring. Their project, which was chosen to represent ICS at the fair, examined how adjusting the nose and fins on a small, air pressure-powered rocket would impact its flight distance.
Exchanging Ideas for Education
On October 25th, ICS hosted a delegation of education officials from the Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Education as part of an educational exchange program with Cardinal Hayes High School and ICS.
Graduates Earn Stellar Scholarships
As this year’s graduating 8th grade class steps through the doors of ICS, they are entering a world full of excitement and possibilities. Many of these students will be attending excellent private high schools, and some have earned fantastic scholarships – the combined class total is over $100,000!
ICS Students Go Head-to-Head with Jeter
On Wednesday, May 1st, ICS held its Third Annual Pinstripe Benefit at Yankee Stadium. Supporters of ICS gathered in luxury suites, courtesy of the New York Yankees, to cheer them on as they took on the Houston Astros.
New Teachers Help ICS Community Grow
This year, ICS welcomed four terrific new classroom teachers to its staff. They include Ms. Vincenza D’Ippolito, 1st grade; Ms. Yvonne Coe and Ms. Laureen Burke, 2nd grade; and Mr. Craig Brown, 5th grade.
