Thanks to all who supported our Catholic Schools Week activities, especially those who came to Family Fitness Night to support our cause to raise money for cancer research and those who served breakfast on Staff Appreciation Day. We had an exciting and fun week of special celebrations including Spirit Day, Religion Olympics, Family Fitness Night, Student Cultures Day and games between the faculty and 8th grade students! A special thank you to Ms. Limardo and the parent ambassadors who hosted the breakfast for our 8th grade students and their families after their Pin Mass celebration.
Re-enrollment forms or pending re-enrollment notices (due to financial or other issues) were sent home last week. The forms must be returned with the $100 fee per student by March 9th to hold seats for next year. The class that reaches 100% re-enrollment first will be treated with a pizza party. We will have ongoing enrollment of new students and need to know how many seats are available in each class. There will most likely be a waiting list for some grades, especially those that are full this year. If you do not reserve a seat by March 9th your child may be put on a waiting list if new enrollments are taken and the grade is full. Anyone who does not meet the early bird deadline will be charged a $150. fee. Testing and enrollment of new students (and siblings) will be ongoing. Please call our Admissions Director, Ms. Melanie Diaz for information. Our next Open House will be February 21st at 5:30 PM for prospective parents. Get the word out!!
Report cards are being issued for the second quarter on Feb. 8thth and our Honors Assembly for Grades 4-8 will be held on Feb. 9th at 1:30. Parents are invited . Please make an appointment with your child’s teacher if there are concerns over your child’s academic progress. There will be NO SCHOOL on Feb.16th and 19th.
We will be making up the snow day on March 29 , Holy Thursday. Dismissal will be at 12:00.
Lent begins on Feb. 14th and as always we will be focusing on the spiritual dimension of our lives here at school. Our theme centers on being mindful of our call to love as God loves us and to be kind in our daily interactions with others. We are also highlighting our faith in action as we raise money for an important cause. Last year we raised $5300. for a school that serves blind children in the Philippines. This year we are supporting cancer research. Ms. Rivera and Mr. Cavanaugh, two of our teachers, will be running in the NYC Half Marathon in March and our goal is to raise $2400. to sponsor their cause which is the Lymphoma Foundation. We are earmarking our Missions collection for this cause. Help us to reach our goal and fight cancer by sending in your donation to school with your child! Every donation counts! The Safety Patrol will be sponsoring some fund raisers for this cause also. Look for the flyer to order donuts for Mardi Gras on February 13th and other events coming up during Lent!
The parent ambassadors are sponsoring a Valentine fund raiser. See the flyer that will be sent home with the details and support our parents who are raising money for school activities and events for all our families. Their efforts funded the apple picking trip in the fall, the Halloween party, Santa’s Workshop, the reception for our 8th graders and their families this month and breakfast to show appreciation for our teachers and staff during Catholic Schools Week. The more funds they raise the more events they can sponsor to build community among our families here at ICS!
Thank you for your continued cooperation and support. God bless you and your families.
